When you make an online purchase, chances are there are a few things you do before clicking "submit" on the order form, like checking for a discount code or confirming that the shop ships to your address.

If you're like 91% of online shoppers, you also probably read the product reviews — especially if it's from a brand you've never shopped before, or if it has a higher price point.

For retailers, the focus is often on making the customer purchase, and then on making sure they purchase again. They're so focused on conversion, often asking for a review goes by the wayside.

But successful brands know the secret sauce. Asking for reviews helps encourage repeat purchase, and gives your merchandise the much-needed credibility to convert customers without hesitation.

So where do you make the ask? It's a popular choice to ask for a review via an email — it makes sense, nestled into the order delivery confirmation, or a few days afterwards.

But customers don't always open your emails.

This is where SMS comes in.

With the highest open rates of any marketing channel, SMS is an ideal way to gently ask your customers to review a product after they've purchase.

Today we've made this easy by partnering with Okendo, one of the leading product review and UGC apps built for high-performance Shopify retailers.

Through our integration, brands can quickly build SMS messages and automations to collect high-impact customer reviews & UGC to showcase on their website.

In just a few minutes you can easily personalize the message to reflect your brand, add MMS if you'd like, and set it up to be a review-generating machine.

We've already seen some stellar success from brands using our integration.

Scotch Porter — a men's grooming products brand — sent out two SMS communications asking customers for reviews: one 14 days after order fulfillment, and one 7 days later. Customer who didn't opt in to SMS were sent emails instead. In the 30-day testing period, CTR for SMS review requests was 3x higher than email, and review generation rate was 1.3x higher than email. High Fashion Home — a homeware brand using Shopify Plus — sent out two SMS communications asking customers for reviews: one 21 days after order fulfillment, and one 7 days later if the customer hadn't already left a review. Customer who didn't opt in to SMS were sent emails instead. In the 30-day testing period, CTR for SMS review requests was 2x higher than email, and review generation rate was 1.5x higher than email.
